Legal Ownership is an act of Protest

Before we wrap up #hispanicheritagemonth #latinxheritagemonth, I wanted to share these numbers with you, hopefully as inspiration to protect your businesses.

• Latinx/Hispanic businesses contribute more than $700 billion to the U.S. economy.

BUT,

• Latinx/Hispanic trademark applicants are underrepresented by -60%.
• Less than 8% of all trademark applications are filed by Latinx/Hispanic applicants.

I originally shared these during the @weallgrowsummit and even when sharing them, I still couldn’t believe these numbers.

Remember, filing a trademark application is securing ownership in your brand. It’s an act of protest! Don’t let others (and especially large corporations) take or use your business names/intellectual property without your permission and/or fair compensation.
